MLB Baseball Betting: Los Angeles Angels at Toronto Blue Jays&h=235&w=320&zc=1

The Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays will battle at the Rogers Centre on Thursday in the finale of a three game series. The Jays got the victory in game one but the Angels came back to win on Wednesday convincingly drubbing the Jays 8-2. This result has made the AL East race even tighter than it was. The Boston Red Sox and Blue Jays are tied for first place with the Baltimore Orioles 1 game back and the New York Yankees 6 games back. The Jays have won 6 of 10, the Sox have won 7 of 10 and the O’s and Yankees are 5-5 in their last ten games.

The Angels don’t have much to play for though they can get out of last place in the AL West. They’re currently 1.5 games back of the fourth place Oakland A’s. The Halos have lost 6 of 10 and haven’t been much of a road team this year going 24-40 outside of Anaheim. The Angels will start right hander Jered Weaver who is having a terrible season and is well of his dominant form of recent years. Weaver has a 5.47 ERA overall with a 1.525 WHIP, a 5.49 road ERA with a 1.547 WHIP and a 8.40 L3 ERA with a 2.133 WHIP. The Angels are 10-14 overall when he starts, 4-7 on the road and 0-3 in his last three starts. His numbers could get even worse facing a Toronto team that is 56-37 against right handers this year putting up 5.2 runs per game.

Toronto will start lefthander J.A. Happ who is having a career year. Happ has a 3.05 ERA overall with a 1.137 WHIP, a 2.76 ERA at home with a 1.200 WHIP and a 2.33 L3 ERA with a 0.983 WHIP. The Jays have won 19 of his 24 starts overall, 11 of 12 at home and a phenomenal a 12 straight. The Angels aren’t *that* bad against left handed pitching going 16-17 this year but Happ has been in phenomenal form for most of the season. This series as well as the upcoming weekend series against Minnesota is very important for the Jays. They play at Baltimore early next week and a decent record in their six straight home games against ‘bottom feeders’ would definitely help their cause.
