MLB Baseball Betting: Minnesota Twins at Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays scrapped out a 8-7 win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday and can complete the sweep here. The Twins have now lost 9 straight. This dropped Minnesota’s record in the month of August to 9-16 -4.4 units. The Twins are playing out the string but the Blue Jays are playing for the AL East championship. With the Red Sox winning and Orioles losing on Saturday here’s how things stand heading into Sunday’s action: Toronto holds a 1 game lead over the second place Red Sox and a 3 game lead over the Baltimore Orioles. With the Yankees win over Baltimore that puts the ‘Bronx Bombers’ just 5.5 games out of the divisional lead. Not only is the divisional race very tightly packed all four teams are in very similar form. The Twins have split his 18 starts overall, won 5 of 8 on the road and lost 2 of his last three. He could be in for a tough outing on Sunday since the Jays pummel right handers–they’ve got a record of 54-38 +5.1 units against RHP this season. Minnesota, meanwhile, has a 34-61 -21.5 unit record against right handers this year which could be good news for enigmatic R.A. Dickey. Toronto has won 2 of Dickey’s last three starts but he’s struggled all year at the Rogers Centre with a 5.12 ERA. Toronto has a 4-10 record in his home starts.

Toronto has had their way with Minnesota this season (5-1 +3.3 units) and over the last two seasons (10-3 +6 units). This might be a spot to look for Minnesota to avoid the sweep were they not in the midst of his long losing streak. The Jays need wins to stay atop the AL East and with a very important road series at Baltimore up next they can’t let up here.
