MLB Baseball Betting: Toronto Blue Jays at Arizona Diamondbacks&h=235&w=320&zc=1

The Toronto Blue Jays are back in action on Tuesday as they begin a tricky two game series against the Diamondbacks in Arizona. They’ll then return home for a three game set with the Seattle Mariners followed by more Interleague play against the San Diego Padres. Toronto is 3 games behind the first place Baltimore Orioles (pending the outcome of Baltimore’s game at New York on Monday) with the second place Red Sox just one game ahead. The Yankees are 5.5 games behind the Blue Jays in fourth place. Toronto has been playing well of late winning 7 of 10 and are 9-4 +2.6 units in the month of July.

The Diamondbacks are a mess. They were playing reasonably well in mid June despite a horrible home record but since then the bottom has fallen out. The Diamondbacks have lost 7 of 10 and are 4-8 -4.1 units in the month of July. Their biggest liability is their play at home. On their home field they are 17-33 -22.2 units. On the road they’re 23-20 +8.6 units. They did win the final two games of their home series against the LA Dodgers over the weekend but that helps them little in terms of the NL West standings. Arizona is in last place, 1.5 games behind the fourth place San Diego Padres. They’re 11.5 games behind the second place Dodgers and 17 games behind the division leading San Francisco Giants.

Toronto will start Aaron Sanchez who has been very sharp lately. The Jays lost his last start at home to Detroit but Sanchez pitched well allowing just 5 hits and 2 ER in 5 innings of work. Before that he was on the mound for two Toronto wins allowing just 1 earned run in each game. For the year, he’s got a 2.33 road ERA in 10 starts away from the Rogers Centre. Arizona will start righthander Zack Godley who has started two games this year, both D-Backs wins. He’s not exactly dominated allowing a total of 6 runs in 11 innings of work but his team has bailed him out and gotten the victory.

Godley is due to be ‘exposed’ by a potent offense and Toronto definitely has one. No reason they can’t get this win with the very capable Sanchez on the mound.
