MLB Baseball Betting: Toronto Blue Jays at Seattle Mariners&h=235&w=320&zc=1

These are tough times for the Toronto Blue Jays. With the Jays slumping in the AL East and hockey season about to start the team might want to stay in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Toronto lost another game on Sunday as their offense disappeared and they lost 4-0 to the LA Angels. Alex Meyer had been struggling in his limited starts this season but the fourth time is the charm and he got the win. He went 5 innings allowing 2 hits, 3 walks, 7 strikeouts and no earned runs. He got a lot of help from a Toronto offense that has sputtered badly just when they need to produce. The Jays offense has average 2.71 runs per game over their past 7 after average 4.8 runs per game for the season as a whole.

Toronto’s Marcus Stroman didn’t pitched badly–6 innings, 7 hits, 2 ER. That would have been enough to win had his teammates not hung him out to dry but he’s been the beneficiary of a lot of bad luck this season. The AL East standings are ‘incomplete’ with the New York Yankees leading the Boston Red Sox 2-0 in the top of the third. Pending the outcome of that game: Boston leads the Baltimore Orioles by 2.5 games, the Toronto Blue Jays are in third place 3.5 games back. The Yankees are 7 games out of first and might have run out of time.

The Jays now make a long trip up the coast to the Jet City to take on the Seattle Mariners who have been playing very well of late winning 8 of 10 and 10 of 15. The bad news for the Jays is that Seattle has dominated them in head to head play on their home field winning 5 of the last 6 meetings. Marco Estrada is in bad form for Toronto (8.53 ERA L3) though Taijuan Walker is a mediocre pitcher at best. The problem is that you just can’t trust the Jays formerly potent offense to get the job done. Given the relative form of these teams, the Mariners’ strong performance at home in the series and Estrada’s poor form and we’ll gladly take Seattle. Mariners average 5.0 runs per game against right handers and are 56-38 +11.7 units.
