NFL Football Betting: Arizona Cardinals at Buffalo Bills&h=235&w=320&zc=1

With the Toronto Blue Jays idle on Thursday we’ll take a look at ‘Canada’s NFL team’ aka the Buffalo Bills and their Sunday game against the Arizona Cardinals. The long suffering Buffalo Bills are apparently heading for another disastrous season and the future doesn’t look good for head coach Rex Ryan. It’s amazing how quickly things have ‘gone South’ for Ryan and the Bills. He got the job after former head coach Doug Marrone exercised an ‘out clause’ and left the team on the heels of a 9-7 season. He went 8-8 in his first season. That wasn’t unacceptably bad given the circumstances but the Bills’ defense declined while the offense improved in 2015.

The fact that Ryan was essentially working with Marrone’s personnel last year doesn’t appear to have bought him any time. Buffalo is 0-2 on the season and have looked awful on both sides of the ball. On defense, they’re ranked #22 in yards allowed per game (400.5) and #20 in PPG allowed (25.0). Unfortunately, the defense looks like Buddy Ryan’s Chicago Bears defense compared to the offense. Buffalo is ranked #30 in yards per game (276.5 YPG) and #22 in points per game (19.0). Former offensive coordinator Greg Roman was thrown under the bus to buy Ryan some time but unless the team turns things around quickly he and his brother Rob will be the next to go.

Were Buffalo a better coached team this might be a good spot to play on the Bills. Arizona faces a long trip and an early start time and are coming off a big win in their previous game. This would be a made to order spot to play on a desperate team but just can’t trust the Bills to get it done. Things won’t get any easier with three of their next four games on the road. Not a huge fan of Ryan as a coach but he is a ‘survivor’. He opened his tenure with the New York Jets going 4-6 only to go 5-1 down the stretch and eventually advance to the conference finals. The Bills have been good in this situation–last three years they’re 5-0 SU/ATS after 2 or more consecutive losses including 3-0 SU/ATS under Ryan. Cardinals are 3-6 ATS in their last 9 non conference spots. This price should go higher as the ‘public’ has zero interest in Buffalo right now.
