NHL Hockey Betting: Detroit Red Wings at Winnipeg Jets&h=235&w=320&zc=1

The Winnipeg Jets have had their ‘ups and downs’ this year but they’re in the thick of things in the Central Division (aka the toughest division in hockey) and that’s about all that anyone could expect at this point. The Jets have won two straight but have lost 6 of their last 10. They’re tied with Minnesota for third place in the Central with 28 points and both teams are two points ahead of Dallas and Nashville. Everyone in the Central Division is chasing the Chicago Blackhawks who lead the division with 35 points and the St. Louis Blues who are in second place with 32 points.

The Detroit Red Wings are 4-4-2 in their last 10 games are treading water in the lower half of the Atlantic division. The Wings are 4-4-2 in their last 10 games and 6-5-1 on the road. They’re currently tied with Florida for fifth place in the Atlantic with 27 points. That puts them 3 back of Tampa Bay, 4 back of Boston, 5 back of Ottawa and 9 back of Montreal. Neither team has confirmed their goaltenders for this matchup though ‘penciled in’ are Petr Mrazek for the Wings and Mike Hutchinson for the Jets. Mrazek is 7-5-3 with a 2.84 goals against average and a 0.907 save percentage. Hutchinson is 3-4-2 with a 3.05 goals against average and a 0.898 save percentage with one shutout.

Tough game to handicap. The Jets have won 3 of 5 head to head splitting the last two games at home. The Wings have won 5 of the last 9 on the Jets home ice. The Jets have won the only meeting of the year so far, taking a 5-3 verdict on 11/4/16. The Jets just look like the better team. They’ve won 4 of their last 5 games taking out some good opponents beating Nashville and New Jersey at home and St. Louis and Chicago on the road. This is the final game of a three game road trip for the Red Wings. Patrik Laine has become a goal scoring beast for the Jets and is now tied with Sidney Crosby for the NHL goal scoring lead with 16. The Jets’ goaltending is a bit sketchy but then again the Wings aren’t much to write home about either. We’ll take a shot on the home team.
