NHL Hockey Betting: Vancouver Canucks at Dallas Stars&h=235&w=320&zc=1

The Vancouver Canucks ended the nine game winning streak of the Montreal Canadiens in their last game but now take to the road for a tough contest against the Dallas Stars. The Canucks ambushed Montreal at the Rogers Arena for their first home win of the year. They’ll take their 4-2-3 record to Texas to take on the Dallas Stars who are 7-2-0 and one point behind Nashville for first place in the Central Division. Since the Predators are idle tonight they could take sole possession of first place with a regulation win. The Stars posted a come from behind win against the hapless Anaheim Ducks in their last game. Dallas trailed 3-0 at the end of the first period but came back to tie the game and won it with a goal with just over a minute to play in the third period.

Vancouver has had a rocky season and one in which they can’t seem to find any consistency. The win over Montreal ended a four game losing streak but it now puts them in a very tough emotional spot. The Canucks clearly had the game against the Habs ‘circled’ and gave what was easily their best and most intense effort of the season. That’s a tough thing to reprise, however, and especially after traveling to play on enemy ice against a team that will provide a very tough tactical matchup. The Stars haven’t really been at their high scoring best so far this season but they’re a dangerous team to try and beat in a high scoring game. But given the struggles in goal for Vancouver so far this season that’s likely how this game will transpire. The good news for Vancouver–they’ve been better on the road than at home so far this season. Away from British Columbia, the Canucks are undefeated at 3-0-0.

Dallas looks like the better team in this matchup. Tough to pass up a Central Division team in most situations but especially catching the Canucks in a made to order ‘letdown mode’. The Central Division teams never get a night off since they’ve got to keep pace with their divisional rivals. We look for the Stars to win this one.
