MLB Baseball Betting: Arizona Diamondbacks at Toronto Blue Jays

MLB Baseball Betting: Arizona Diamondbacks at Toronto Blue Jays&h=235&w=320&zc=1

The bad news for the Toronto Blue Jays is that following Tuesday’s home loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks they’re in the midst of a losing streak. The good news? So is everyone else in the AL East. The Jays entered Tuesday’s action 3 games back of the division leading Baltimore Orioles and despite the loss to Arizona they found themselves just 2.5 games back at the end of the day. Toronto has now lost three straight, Boston, Baltimore and the New York Yankees have lost two straight and the Tampa Bay Rays have lost six straight. They’ll try to get back on the winning track with another game against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday at the Rogers Centre.

Blue Jays fans are hoping that the offensively challenged Toronto team of earlier this season isn’t making a return. After a dominating offensive output for a week or so they’ve been held to just two runs in 2 of their last 3 games. They’ll start J.A. Happ on Wednesday and the lefthander has been a solid winner at home despite less than impressive numbers. Happ’s overall ERA is 3.41 and it’s 4.63 at home. Despite that bloated home number Toronto has won 5 of his 6 starts at the Rogers Centre.

Arizona will counter with their own lefthander, Robbie Ray who has been inconsistent this season showing some nice form at times and looking awful at others. He’s off a decent outing in his last game but since that was against the lowly Philadelphia Phillies it’s hard to get too excited about it. Ray has a 4.32 ERA overall and a 3.05 ERA on the road. Arizona has lost 9 of his 14 starts overall including 5 of 7 away from home. Ray has never faced Toronto but Happ has a nice career record against the Diamondbacks–his team’s record in four career starts against Arizona is just 2-2 but it sure isn’t Happ’s fault as he’s put up a tidy 1.80 ERA and 0.920 WHIP.

Here’s the strange statistic of the day–Arizona is somehow 1-10 -9.4 units this year when playing on Wednesday. Neither team has done much against left handed pitching but overall Toronto is the better team despite their struggles of the past few days.
