MLB Baseball Betting: Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays

In the span of the past week or so things have really started looking up for the Toronto Blue Jays. After spending much of the regular season right around .500 they’ve won 7 of 10 and are now tied for second place in the American League East just two games out of first. The Baltimore Orioles still hold down the top spot in the division but aren’t playing particularly well (losing 6 of their last 10) and while the O’s will head into the All Star Break with no worse than a share of first place. Given their current form, however, that lead might not last very long once the second half of the season begins.
Toronto has looked good recently not only in terms of wins and losses but in the teams they’ve beaten. They ended Cleveland’s MLB longest win streak and have since taken care of business against Kansas City and Detroit. They’ve kept their offense putting up numbers but have also been getting good pitching and play in other phases of the game. The Blue Jays’ starting rotation might not be dominating but they’re most definitely ‘solid’. The erratic form of R.A. Dickey is an area of of concern but Dickey is such a solid dude overall he’s an asset to the team just being in the clubhouse even when he’s not on his ‘A Game’.
So things are going well for the Blue Jays while Detroit is having trouble in several phases of their game–most notably an area where they’re typically one of the best in the business. Their offensive output has been sketchy and erratic this season. Another problem–they’re not getting dependable pitching from where they should expect it the most: at the top of the rotation from their ‘ace’ Justin Verlander.
Toronto is a team in better form in every aspect of the game and one with a very clear and common goal in the second half of the season to run down the first place Orioles. We’ll back them throughout this weekend series. Assuming they don’t come out of the second half gate and stumble we’ll back them often after the All Star Break as well.
