The Buffalo Bills looked awful in their first two games to the point that speculation was rampant that head coach Rex Ryan could be on the way out sooner rather than later. They’ve since won four straight games and are just 1 game out of the AFC East lead behind the mighty New England Patriots. They’ll try to run their streak to five straight victories this Sunday when they travel to South Florida for a game against the Miami Dolphins. Miami is 2-4 on the year but they’re coming off what might be their best effort of the season in a 30-15 home victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Buffalo got some bad news in the past 24 hours when it was revealed that running back LeSean McCoy will miss this game with a hamstring injury and could miss additional weeks depending on how quickly he recovers. This is a huge blow to the Bills who have primarily leveraged the running game during their recent winning streak. The strong rushing attack has opened up more opportunities for Tyrod Taylor to throw the ball but he’s still a bigger threat on the ground than through the air. Nevertheless, you have to be concerned when a team gets outgained in four of their six games. The switch from Greg Roman to Anthony Lynn appears to have been the right move though the challenge now is for the new offensive coordinator to keep the team’s momentum going with McCoy sidelined. Buffalo has a string of three straight very tough games after this one–New England, at Seattle and following a bye week a road game at Cincinnati.

Miami on the other hand is in a stretch where they could pick up a few victories. After Buffalo they’ll host the New York Jets and play on the road at San Diego and Los Angeles. Miami started the year with a banged up offensive line but they now have the unit back fairly intact. Miami has been an awful ATS team at home (6-12 L3 years) while Buffalo has been profitable on the road (10-7 L3) but hard to see them winning here if McCoy can’t go.
