NFL Football Betting: Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins&h=235&w=320&zc=1

Interesting afternoon game in the NFL as the Buffalo Bills take a trip to South Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins. Both of these teams have split wins and losses in the first two weeks of the season. The Bills upset the Indianapolis Colts in their opening game but followed that up with a loss to the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. The Miami Dolphins opened the season with a win over the Washington Redskins but fell short last week losing 23-20 to the improving Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bills are in for an entertaining ride this season, their first with Rex Ryan as head coach. They’ve also got a first year starting quarterback in Tyrod Taylor, signed in the offseason after a solid enough stint as a backup to Joe Flacco in Baltimore. Taylor has been up and down so far–for example, last week against the New England Patriots he had three interceptions and three touchdown passes. This is his first career road start so he’ll have to deal with an enemy environment for the first time.

It’s also Miami’s first home game. The Dolphins’ home field stats have moderated somewhat after a bizarre run a few years ago where they were money in the bank (from a betting standpoint) on the road but couldn’t win over cover a game at home. They’re now on an 8-8 SU/ATS run in South Florida but they’ve got to improve upon that if they want to be a playoff team. One thing that hasn’t changed–Miami’s offense continues to be sluggish at best. They’ve scored only two touchdowns in the first two games of the season and don’t have a lot of confidence in them holding up their end in if this game becomes a shootout.

Taylor is a very intriguing player–he’s got to improve his on field decision making but he’s shown a nice rapport with the Bills’ playmakers. Longterm, he could use a dependable running back but in general we’re strong for Taylor. We’ll back him and the Bills to get the job done here. Besides, no interest in laying points with a Miami team that has struggled to put points on the board.
