Long trip for ‘Canada’s NFL team’ on Sunday as the Buffalo Bills head across the US to the West Coast for a game against the Oakland Raiders. The Bills have been a freak show this season and have been unable to find any sort of balance. Either they’re winning every week or losing every week. They started the year with two losses in two games which led to rumors that head coach Rex Ryan was on his way out. Then game a four game SU/ATS winning streak to cool off the Ryan hot seat. That was followed by a three game losing streak going 0-2-1 ATS but they’ve since won two straight. The sum total of all of this? The Bills are 6-5 on the year.

Oakland is having a downright impressive season–in fact, they’re tied for the second best record in the National Football League with New England at 9-2. They’re also one of three undefeated road teams in the league (Dallas and New England are the others). They’re just 4-2 at home but enter this game riding a five game winning streak and holding a one game lead over the Kansas City Chiefs (who play a tough game against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. It might not be fair to compare what the Raiders have done in years past with this season but they just haven’t been a very good home team with a 9-11 SU/7-13 ATS mark at home over the past three seasons. They might be 4-2 SU at home this year but they’re 1-4-1 ATS. They’ve covered only 2 of their last 10 home games (2-7-1 STS) They have had their way with the Raiders for the past decade plus, putting up a 9-1 ATS mark since 1992 including 4-0 SU/3-0-1 ATS at home.

Both teams are dealing with injuries–Derek Carr has been upgraded to ‘probable’ for Oakland but amid the Bills lengthy injury tally is some good news. Both Sammy Watkins and LeSean McCoy are likely to play here. They’re both serious weapons for improving quarterback Tyrod Taylor to work with. Oakland is the most penalized team in the NFL and might be in a ‘flat spot’ with things going their way of late.
